Our History

Elisefarm – A Manor in the Heart of Skåne

Set in the heart of the captivating Skåne countryside, where golden fields of rapeseed meet undulating forests, Elisefarm rises as a distinguished manor dating back to 1845. It welcomes you into a world where rich history harmonises with classic elegance.

Elisefarm was formerly part of Bosjökloster Castle. The estate was acquired by Ingrid Linné and Lars Ingesson in 1998, primarily for agricultural purposes, shortly after they were married. During their visits to the USA, they were inspired by the country’s golf resorts, where the entire family could indulge in a range of activities from golf to relaxation and fine dining. This experience soon sparked the beginning of a new vision. With this vision in mind, the couple began transforming Elisefarm. In 2005, a golf course surrounded by stunning nature was unveiled, along with a restaurant that quickly became a favourite among guests.

Over the years, Elisefarm has become one of Sweden’s premier golf and spa hotels. True to Ingrid and Lars’s original vision, it now welcomes the entire family—from avid golfers to those seeking relaxation and exceptional culinary experiences. Over the past 26 years, Elisefarm has evolved into a complete destination, featuring a golf course, spa facilities, hotel accommodations, a boutique, conference services, padel, various activities, and venues for events, parties, and weddings.

To this day, Elisefarm remains under the couple’s ownership and management, with their thoughtful oversight evident in every facet of the estate. By operating entirely under private management, Ingrid and Lars—supported by their dedicated team—have ensured that every detail, from the hotel rooms to the restaurant, maintains consistently high standards. Their personal touch and genuine commitment create a welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels truly at home.

But Ingrid and Lars’s journey with Elisefarm is far from complete. Their vision involves building an entire community around the course, with up to 900 residences. It’s a long-standing plan that, after numerous rounds of detailed planning and appeals, is now on the cusp of becoming reality.

The diverse backgrounds and specialized expertise of our chefs converge to deliver a sophisticated gastronomic experience that exceeds expectations.

We embrace a farm-to-table philosophy, crafting a menu that reflects the natural rhythms of each season. Every week, we introduce a new lunch menu, and monthly, our chefs collaborate to create an innovative à la carte selection, fostering variety and culinary delight in our kitchen. Our ingredients are chosen with a strong emphasis on locally sourced and sustainable produce. We maintain close partnerships with regional producers, such as Bodil at Gustavslund, whose organic vegetables and lamb are transformed into exceptional flavors of the highest quality. Wild game from our own estate, freshly caught pikeperch from Ringsjön, and artisanal baked breads and pastries exemplify our commitment to showcasing the best of the region’s resources. Additionally, our house-smoked products and homemade stocks highlight our dedication to authentic and refined culinary craftsmanship.

Golf Course

Golf Course in an Idyllic Manor Setting

In 2004, Ingrid Linné and Lars Ingesson decided to convert Elisefarm from farmland into a first-rate golf course. Their decision followed Lars’s participation in a meeting at Alnarp, organized by the Swedish Golf Federation, which focused on establishing and running golf courses in Sweden. It emerged that Höör Municipality was the only one in Skåne without its own golf course. Driven by their entrepreneurial spirit and passion for new challenges, Ingrid and Lars embarked on the transformation of Elisefarm with the federation’s support. They met with several prominent golf course architects but ultimately chose Martin Hawtree from England—a renowned third-generation course architect—and his colleague at the time, Caspar Grauballe.

Designed by English architect Martin Hawtree, the golf course was inaugurated in 2005 by Henrik Stenson and Louise Stahle. A third-generation golf course designer, Hawtree brings extensive experience in both new course development and the meticulous restoration of storied classics like Lahinch, Royal Birkdale, and Royal Melbourne. His portfolio also includes Vallda Golf & Country Club in Kungsbacka and Simons Golf Club in Helsingør, Denmark. More recently, he was commissioned by Donald Trump to create what is billed as “the world’s best golf course” in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Martin Hawtree took great care to integrate the existing landscape, resulting in a layout defined by his signature bunkers and green complexes. The design also reflects the heritage of a classic British golf course, deeply rooted in the game’s history. Challenging yet enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels, it promises a memorable experience immersed in both nature and sport. The course is a par 72, stretching 5,609 meters from the yellow tees. From the black (6,444m), white (6,039m), or blue (5,263m) tees, it retains championship-level standards. Since its inauguration in 2005, Elisefarm has hosted numerous major national and international golf tournaments.

Elisefarm is now a privately owned golf resort set in gently rolling terrain with breathtaking views of Lake Ringsjön. Its holes meander through stone walls and feature strategically placed water hazards. Built to USGA standards and sown with traditional English red fescue, the greens remain playable nearly year-round. Elisefarm, an award-winning course, has frequently been ranked among Sweden’s top ten by Golf Digest, praised for its “English golf feel in Skåne, traditional thinking, and exclusive golf experiences.” Within three years of opening, the American publication Golfers Magazine named it one of “Europe’s best new golf courses.” Elisefarm has also been recognized multiple times as offering “Sweden’s best golf package” by Golf Digest, and was ranked second on the magazine’s list of “Sweden’s best golf hotels.”
